Kitty Butterfly -Paint Party Friday

This is one of my little cartoon characters--quite different than my normal work.  I have drawn these since I was a child--it is the whimsical popping out.  LOL

I am convinced cats hide wings under their fur--and they use them when we are not looking.  I'm not the only one who believes this--there's a children's book series out called CatWings, by Ursula K. LeGuin.

I don't have much time to burn this week.  So I'm posting a drawing from spring, 2017.  I was trying out some new coloring pens--I LOVED them.  So bright and pretty.

Have a wonderful weekend, dear ones.  May God fill your heart with light and joy.  Thank you for dropping by.  The comments you write are so encouraging to me!   They keep me going!  ((HUGS))

Ribbet, I love you.

Hello, sweet Friends.  I am posting this "Catfish" drawing from long ago, in honor of a brave little kitty who beat the odds.  Her name is Ribbet.  She was born with a hollow chest and wasn't expected to make it.  Yet, that brave kitten grew and lived to have a litter of kittens...and she yet lives with Mumsie.

However, just recently she hasn't been well.  It was discovered she has cancer.  She does not have long.  When I saw her today--heaven was in her eyes.  I asked her to greet Crickette' and my Beloved  for me...and she looked at me with huge soulful eyes and said yes.  I saw it.  Her eyes were filled with love, as she voiced that tiny meow.

Oh, friends...I shall miss this sweet brave kitty.

Here she is--she was a kitten then.  As silly as it sounds, please pray for this little one's peace and that she will not have pain as she is dying.

Thank you. Oh, thank you.

UPDATE:  Little Ribbet flew away to heaven Tuesday evening, March 29th.  My heart is so sad.

Purple Moon -Paint Party Friday

I painted this large acrylic on a large canvas in 2010 to honor the life of a dear little friend. Crickette's extraordinary story can be found at Angel Stories.  Her face is hidden in this painting--can you find her?

We still miss our small mischievous Crickette'.

Above is another peek into my sketchbook.  I found a wonderful photo of a cat yawning--it so hit my funny bone, this sketch popped out of my pencil.  Bwaahahahahaa...Dragon Breath!  I am sure Crickette' would have smiled to see this one.

Have a lovely day, sweet Friends!  Happy Paint Party Friday!

Surprise! -Guest Heart Thursday

I have posted this colored pencil drawing before.  It is one of my earlier pieces of artwork and has hearts hidden throughout.  Since Fall is only a month or two away, I thought this drawing would be perfect for this weeks Guest Heart Thursday.

Though the cat seems like she's going to have this whimsical fairy for dinner, in actuality, the kitty is totally delighted to have awakened her friend from a nap on those lovely leaves.  Later they will hunt spiders together.

I know, I know--I have a GREAT imagination.

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

Toez Gets Bellz -Guest Heart Thursday

I painted this little 2.5x3.5 inch picture of Toez the Polydactyl Cat, when she was full on cute in kittenhood.  She has learned to use those wonderful mitten paws of hers just like a human does.  Even as I type this she is sneaking between me and the keyboard to nestle herself in such a way that typing can become difficult!!  (meow)

Here's a picture of our tiny Toez the day she came home.  Isn't she just darling?   (grin) As you can see, she was totally irresistible!

And she STILL is!  Even though she's since grown to the size of a small bobcat.

Butterfly on Kitty Nose

Today the sun is out.  The funny thing is--it's raining at the same time.  Just now, it seems--we are in someone's rainbow.

I felt the need to lighten the air with a little humor.  When I saw this little watercolor ACEO I'd painted a few years ago, it made me laugh out loud.  SO--here's my small smile for you today.

May joy and laughter color your day!

Crickette Kitty

As storm clouds laden with rain scudded across the skies, I caught our little Crickette'  peeking over the tops of the clouds.

Above you see her as I first caught her pouncing upon wisps of the storm.

Here she is again!  I was able to get two shots of our darling kitty before she whiskered her way back to heaven.

And here you see Crickette' as I originally saw her, peeking through the storm.  Of course, I waved.  I'm sure she winked before she flew away.

The Adventures of Toez, the Polydactyl Kitten - Guest Heart Thursday

Princess Twinkle Toez came to live with us about a month ago.  She has six toes on all but one paw.  She is what people sometimes refer to as a Mitten Cat, because her front paws look like mittens.  Her back paws look like her feet are on wrong, because the larger toe is on the outside of her foot--rather than the inside.

Below you see her with one of the toys she delights to bat across the floor.  Once she catches it, she often holds her prize between her hands--rather like a human!
Her feisty personality has inspired many small ACEO drawings.  She loves to play--often pouncing upon anything that moves--and sometimes it is all in her imagination.

Toez was sleeping in the window seat when I sketched this more realistic drawing of her.

After awhile she awoke with that quizzical look upon her whiskered face.  "What you doing?" she seems to say.  She would rather eat my pencil, you see--and why did I awaken her from her nap?  Well, she's just SO cute!  I'm sure as time proceeds there will be many more adventures from Toez, the Polydactyl Kitten

I will be putting these up for sale on Etsy after I add a little color!

Kitten Wings - ACEO

I have always loved the whimsical children's book series about cats with wings--Cat Wings.  I've always drawn cats with wings--along with horses, people, faeries and the like.  But there's something about the idea of cats with bird wings which intrigues me.

This tiny drawing is only 2.5 x 3.5 inches.  It is like a little piece of paper jewelry.  I love how the colors turned out on this one--The prismacolors blended perfectly that day!  Have a great weekend!

Love at First Sight - Guest Heart Thursday

I have done a set of 20 small cartoons featuring our funny new cat Boots.  She has a longer than normal tail, so I have made this a part of the cartoon.  Boots has now learned to open doors and cupboards.  She is VERY smart and gets into a lot of trouble.  She's filled our life with laughter.

Happy Go Lucky

This is an Artists Trading Card (2.5 x 3.5 inches) which I made to trade for another artists' card.  You will have to wait to see what I traded this card for.  That card, not shown here, drawn by my talented Niece Victoria, will be one of the featured art pieces on FAT Tuesday--and it is BEAUTIFUL!

I liked this little cat so well, I thought I would post her today--the look on this kitten's face is indeed Happy Go Lucky!

Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Kitty Boxer

I thought a good laugh would be good for a day such as this--hence this Kitty Boxer.  A few months ago, I was sitting on the front porch talking on the phone with a friend of mine.  When I noticed this feisty fellow floating by, I laughed and described what I was seeing--what a funny kitty!  Of course, my camera bag was beside me so I clicked his picture.

Above you see this little fighter, as I first saw him boxing his way across the skies.

Kitty Monet

It is a tradition in our family. When our Dad was young, he had a black cat named Snow, as did I. It has been nearly 14 years since the day our own Snowbunny arrived.
.One bright spring day, the children came running in from outside. They could hear the tiny mewlings of kittens in the old "Carriage House." I rushed outside with them. Apparently kittens had been born in the attic of the old building and had fallen down between the walls of the structure.
.The first, a tiny male calico we named Lucky, we rescued by cutting through the sheet rock near the ceiling. We could still hear a second kitten, but could not locate her. So we crawled into the cramped, dusty attic, flashlight in hand. We found a crack in the attic floor and when we flashed the light down between the walls, we found her. The tiny black kitten had fallen over nine feet to the floor below.
.I did not know what to do. The walls were of tough old wood--not sheet rock. It would take a power saw to cut through to her. If we did that, the tiny kitten could be terribly injured, or dreadfully frightened. The kids and I took a moment to pray about it and came up with an idea.
.We lowered a sheet with gathered corners to see if we could slip her up the wall that way. But it did not work--though the little thing seemed to like the softness of the cloth. After further thought, we safety-pinned the gathered corners of the sheet and put a bit of cardboard in the bottom to make a kind of basket.
.
Covered with dust, we knelt on the attic floor, one holding the flashlight, another helping to lower the makeshift basket gingerly down to the trapped kitten. I remember praying out loud, "God, please, you have angels out there, couldn't you ask one to give us a little help?"
.The kitten was interested, we could see that--she biffed and nosed the fabric. But she did not get inside. Long moments passed--I was heartsick. I could not imagine listening to the kitten's weakening cries as she starved to death.
.BUT suddenly to our great surprise, she abruptly toppled head first into our basket. It was as though someone had given her an invisible push from under her backside. We all gasped. Hardly believing what we'd seen, we carefully lifted the tiny kitten to safety.
.
Later I watched my daughter cuddling the small cat in her lap. The kitten's bright yellow eyes, huge in her tiny black bewhiskered face winked with mischief. Snow was instantly a member of the family, and has been ever since.
.Indeed, our Snowbunny has been the subject of many a drawing, including this one!

Wrapped Up

Silly Kitty found a ball of yarn. This is one of my very first attempts with Pen and Ink.

Daddy Update: Today will be the last of the 100 degree weather. Last night it cooled down enough I was able to air out the house. I think it will be much more comfortable for my parents today. Dad is showing lots of improvement. He says his neck feels better than it has since the accident, and the wound vac on the top of his head seems to be doing it's healing work. Friday the physical therapist and the nurse will be in to do their magic, then I will drive him to the Vetran's hospital on Tuesday for an appointment with the plastic surgeon. Thank you again for all your encouragement, good thoughts and prayers.

Winged Cat Angel

Here you see another of my winged kitty cat friends. He didn't realize I was watching as his wings unfurled. As you know, cats actually have wings hidden beneath their fur. (Grin)
.
I know, I know! I have a great imagination. And I am wondering what mischief this angel kitty is up to!

Kitten with Wings

As you know, from other posts on my website, I am convinced cats actually have wings, which they never show to humans. The lovely young lady in my drawing is one of the lucky ones!

This furry kitten loves her little mistress so much, that, forgetting her wings she flies to greet her friend, landing upon the girls' fingers to wrap a furry warm kitten tail around her wrist.

I know...I know, I have a GREAT imagination. (grin)

Amanda's Angel

I've always thought cats might have wings. Perhaps their wings sprout when people aren't looking? Maybe they're invisible to the human eye? What do you think?
.
This little angel kitty is too young to know a cat simply doesn't show one's wings to a human being.
