Dreams of Flight -Paint Party Friday

I finally had to take a moment and just draw.  I haven't had much time for art, since just before Christmas.  I couldn't sleep one night and this popped out of my brain.

Years ago I was treated to a hot air balloon ride.  It was an amazing experience--one of the highlights of my life.  It was exactly like I felt as a child when dreaming of flying in the sky high above my home.  To be in the air above the ground in that way seemed so natural and right.  Here this little fairy is dreaming of flying... 

She will be in one of my coloring books someday.  I am happy to announce I did a one-time run for a coloring book--self published and sold a few copies through facebook and by word of mouth.  It has been an exciting time for me.  Now that I see people really seem to like them, I'll be doing one through Amazon.

Fair Marissa and Russell the Elf -Paint Party Friday

This is a piece I made especially for Russell and Marissa in honor of their recent engagement.  They are such a dear and charming couple.  I was impressed that Russell didn't mind that I had portrayed him as an elf.  Ah, young love!  I used pen and ink for the outlines and my beloved Prismacolor pencils to put brilliant color to the piece.

Above you see my reference photo of this sweet couple.  May their life together be a wonderful, continuing adventure!

I may not be able to post very much over the next few weeks, as I discovered only last week that I need immediate surgery on my hip.  I am not that seriously old, so this was a real shocker to me.  I would appreciate your prayers.

Angel of the Roses -Paint Party Friday

Angel of the Roses started as a pencil sketch in my sketchbook. When I had a moment to spare for drawing, I would add a little here, and a little there. This drawing took about six years to finish.

I love the jewel tones of the colors, and the graceful line of her wings. Many people have told me this piece looks like a stained glass window.

Family of Faeries -Paint Party Friday

Here is a little family of faeries.  I found them by the river after a wedding.  And such lovely folk they were.  It is fun to be able to see fairies.  

Of course, you know, I have a GREAT imagination!  (grin)  Above you can see my reference photo.  This is Jonny, Amanda and Sophia.  They are such a beautiful little family.

Toez and the Faery -Guest Heart Thursday

This tiny watercolor is the size of a baseball card, only 2.5x3.5.  My niece and I were happily painting at the dining room table, when I noticed Toez the Polydactyl Cat had climbed into one of the chairs to see what we were up to.  She was so interested, and my niece was so darling, I had to draw them both.  Of course, she is a fairy and I've hidden hearts in the painting.

Angel in my Garden -Guest Heart Thursday

This is a pen and ink I drew in early 2002.  She is the angel in my garden--one can find her guarding an ivy covered corner near the old tree house.  Of course, there are hearts hidden throughout this drawing.

Winged Cat Angel

Here you see another of my winged kitty cat friends. He didn't realize I was watching as his wings unfurled. As you know, cats actually have wings hidden beneath their fur. (Grin)

I know, I know! I have a great imagination. And I am wondering what mischief this angel kitty is up to!

Kitten with Wings

As you know, from other posts on my website, I am convinced cats actually have wings, which they never show to humans. The lovely young lady in my drawing is one of the lucky ones!

This furry kitten loves her little mistress so much, that, forgetting her wings she flies to greet her friend, landing upon the girls' fingers to wrap a furry warm kitten tail around her wrist.

I know...I know, I have a GREAT imagination. (grin)

Amanda's Angel

I've always thought cats might have wings. Perhaps their wings sprout when people aren't looking? Maybe they're invisible to the human eye? What do you think?
