Sweet Madrona -Paint Party Friday

I am friends with a very small girl who's imagination reminds me of my own when I was her age.  Madrona is such a wonderful little person.  Her stories are magnificent and her laughter is contagious.  I am the most blessed Auntie in the world.  I have wonderful nieces.

The wind is blowing yellow leaves past my window.  It is a beautiful Fall day.  Have a wonderful weekend, dear ones.  Thank you for your visit--your comments truly bring joy to my heart.  Happy paint Party Friday!

Dancing with Roses -Paint Party Friday

I have been pretty busy--not enough time to draw.  It is the Fourth of July. Between the holiday and all the deadlines for the non-profit I run, I have been nearly overwhelmed.  This is a drawing from over 40 years ago--when I was just a teenager.  I loved fairies and flowers with faces even then.

Have a lovely weekend, sweet Friends!  Happy Paint Party Friday!

Bachelor Button Faery -Paint Party Friday

This is a drawing from my mind.  The model here is my little niece--who shows up in my artwork all the time without my thinking about it.  This is a Bachelor Button Faery.  I love those flowers with their cheerful sky blue color and how they love to dance in the wind.

I have been away from my computer, on the road.  I have missed you all!  Hope you have a great weekend!

Daisy Puff -Paint Party Friday

I love drawing this little girl.  She is the most amazing person.  With her pixie haircut she is the perfect picture of Spring.  I often find her in my garden--she is a ray of sunshine to my heart.

Here you see my little friend as I caught her at the end of the walk in my winter garden.

Happy Paint Party Friday.  Have a lovely weekend, dear Friends and thank you for dropping by.  ((Hugs))

Little Winged Lion -Paint Party Friday

Here is a lineart drawing which will be published in my first coloring book for adults.  This is a sneak peek for you dear Friends.  My little niece posed for this drawing--she and I are sure when dandelions are out and about in a special garden like mine--they might look just like this little winged lion.

Today is the three-year anniversary of my Daddy's "Heaven Day."  We all miss him so much.  Dad had an imagination just like mine--he saw things in his mind's eye.  His stories were wonderful--I can still see the places he spoke of--magical, imaginative places full of color, elves, fairies and fanciful creatures.

We were blessed to have such a dear loving Father.

Happy Paint Party Friday, all you wonderful artists and beautiful people.  God bless you, dear ones--have a lovely weekend and thank you for dropping by.  ((hugs))

Madrona's Tiny Friend -Paint Party Friday

This little faery doesn't quite know how to walk yet--she's pulling herself up on a flower and greeting a small butterfly, which decided to land on her wee finger.

Above you see my reference picture of this darling little girl.  Our tiny Madrona makes all of us laugh and smile.  She has been the subject of many drawings and sketches since her birth.

Happy Paint Party Friday, all you wonderful artists and beautiful people. May God bless you, dear ones.  Have a lovely weekend and thank you for dropping by.

Decorating Roses -Paint Party Friday

Here is a wee baby faery decorating roses with spiderwebs, strewn with sparkling dewdrops.  In my mind's eye, she was out in the garden just this morning--because all the rose bushes were draped so beautifully with sparkling dewdrop webs.

As you know by now,  I have a GREAT imagination.  Above you see dear Evie, the inspiration for my little dewdrop faery baby.

Happy Paint Party Friday, all you wonderful artists and beautiful people. May God bless you, dear ones, with His joy and peace.  Have a lovely weekend and thank you for dropping by.

And We Talked about Heaven

When Mom was five years old--before she could read or write, she spent a lot of time playing in the forest.  One day she came running in to tell Grandma that she'd written her first poem. Grandma loved it so much, she wrote it down.  Perhaps even then, she recognized the first seeds of the writer her little daughter would become.

Years ago, I was inspired to draw this sweet lineart to compliment Mom's little girl poem.

Jesus and I were walking along together
We came to a tree and sat down together
And talked about heaven.
~Eva J. Gibson

There is no doubt God has a special place in His heart for Children.  I love the idea of a small child's adoration for the Shepherd...even before she could read.  He was her Friend.

Catkins -Guest Heart Thursday

Though it is still snowing in parts of our country, here in Oregon's beautiful Willamette Valley, Spring has burst upon us.  Overnight the trees have sallied forth in colorful blooms and bright flowers spring from the ground.  The sun is shining today--right through my office window as I type.  Ah, it is SO beautiful and warm.

My niece and I have always enjoyed pussy willows, pretending the small catkins are tiny kittens.  They are one of the first signs of Spring.  It was her birthday recently, so I painted this picture of  her with all those darling little kitten catkins.  Springtime is coming--and there is always hope in the Spring.

Of course, there is a heart in this picture--though I didn't hide it this time!

Have a lovely day and Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Pouting Cutie -Guest Heart Thursday

I had such fun drawing this pouting little girl.  I have always had SUCH a hard time not laughing when the wee ones pout.  They're just SO cute.  She's not as pouty as I'd have liked, but you get the idea.

Have a lovely day and Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Flower Hat -Guest Heart Thursday

I've had my little niece over all this month and we have had a wonderful time so far.  We make crafts, go for walks, play in the creek--bring home things like mashed flowers, interesting seeds, ancient bottles and old bones.  We also play dress up.  I could not resist drawing her here.  And, of course there are hearts hidden all throughout the drawing.

Everyone should see life through the eyes of a child.  It has a precious shine to it.  Have a lovely day!

Mommy's Laughing -Guest Heart Thursday

There is nothing so lovely as the laughter shared between Mom and child.  That early bond is so very precious and they grow up quickly.  Enjoy every moment you can.  Of course, there are hearts hidden in this drawing!  Have a fabulous day!

Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Happy Dance -Guest Heart Thursday

What a happy heart this little girl has--she loves to come to my house and play dress up!  With all the costumes I have, the selection is endless.  As you can see, the leaves are in the shape of hearts, just perfect for Guest Heart Thursday!

Faery Dress Up

This little faery fae visited my home a few weeks back.  I could not help but to draw her picture.  She is the dearest of all little faeries and I love it when she comes by for a visit.  We do many things together.  We paint leaves, dig in the garden, gather flowers, play games and, of course, dress up is a big favorite.

Have a lovely New Years' everyone!

My Tears

Tonight I cannot sleep.  It is already tomorrow.  This afternoon, we will learn the results of the biopsy my beloved husband had last Monday.

I confess a disquiet in my soul.  A grief, a fear.  It seems, so far, as though anything that could go wrong has done exactly that.  What would I do without my Beloved?  I can't even begin to imagine life without him.

Yet, I trust in God.

I trust Him.  Even though there are those who have mocked my prayers in the midst of this darkness, I know God hears me. Thank the Lord for you dear ones who have prayed for us.  And I thank the mighty Creator for you precious ones who, though you do not believe the same things I do, have always treated my heart's love for God with deep respect--who have lovingly sent warmth, light, and kindness our way.

The prophet Zepheniah writes these powerful poignant words, "The Lord Your God is with you.  He is mighty to save.  He will delight over you.  He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."

I trust in the Creator Who sings and in His Son who weeps with us.  Ah, in these are difficult, dark days...May His light shine through my tears--and yours.

Curls - Daily Doodle

This is a little girl I doodled in my sketchbook yesterday, while listening to a wonderful talk about how precious children are to God.  I've been working on learning the style of Art Nouveau, in particular the wonderful artwork of Alphonse Mucha.  I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.

I am going to share more of my daily "doodlings" in the weeks ahead.  There are various styles I'm attempting to learn, some odd things, some funny things--workings of my mind through doodles, which I think you will enjoy.

I See Roses - Pink Saturday

This is another of my pen and inks to which I added watercolour a few days ago.  I am enamored with the medium!

I thought this ACEO (sized 3/5x2.5 inches) would be perfect for Pink Saturday and this lovely spring day.  Here in Oregon the sun is shining and everything is in bloom.

Malaya Leaf

The day my darling little niece was born, I knew my life would never be the same. She brings such joy and hope to my heart and into our lives.
.
There is no more wonderful tribute to Easter than seeing the beauty of Spring through the eyes of a child. So here she is, our sweet Malaya Leaf.

Baby Angel in the clouds

Isn't this just the most darling little fellow? He looks like a cartoon of himself.

Below you can view this angel baby as I first saw him. If you click on the picture for the details, you can see I didn't have to enhance much! I was truly astonished at the detail of the cloud as I first found it.

Daddy Update: Dad's head wound is nearly healed. The bad news is the neurosurgeon looked at his neck bones and not much has changed. The good news is they were able to fit Dad with a different collar. This will help with the flashbacks of the Nazi prison guard choking him, and with further medication and help from an expert in soldiers who have flashbacks, I believe Dad will be doing much better soon.
.
Please continue to pray for the joining and healing of those bones in Dad's neck. The surgery required to fix it if it doesn't, is extremely risky. It is frightening to think about that. Also please pray the flashbacks will cease. Mumsie says they're getting worse and lasting longer. Thank you dear prayer warriors.

Wistful

Last week, I met this little one who's sad eyes reflected her rescue from terrible circumstances. She is a brave little soul who believes in angels and fairies. So I drew her as one.
