Little Winged Lion -Paint Party Friday

Here is a lineart drawing which will be published in my first coloring book for adults.  This is a sneak peek for you dear Friends.  My little niece posed for this drawing--she and I are sure when dandelions are out and about in a special garden like mine--they might look just like this little winged lion.

Today is the three-year anniversary of my Daddy's "Heaven Day."  We all miss him so much.  Dad had an imagination just like mine--he saw things in his mind's eye.  His stories were wonderful--I can still see the places he spoke of--magical, imaginative places full of color, elves, fairies and fanciful creatures.

We were blessed to have such a dear loving Father.

Happy Paint Party Friday, all you wonderful artists and beautiful people.  God bless you, dear ones--have a lovely weekend and thank you for dropping by.  ((hugs))

Birdhouse in my Garden -Paint Party Friday

I collaborated with my daughter to do this painting, which was for a fund raiser for a school for disabled children.  When you enlarge it, you'll be able to see the detail.  This is a combination of acrylic paint and lineart drawing.

Here's a selection showing the detail of the painting. I have posted this before, but because of my current circumstances, having very recently lost my darling husband, I haven't been able to do much art.  That will change as time goes on.  In the meantime, I am thanking God for His strength as I walk this new pathway in my life.

Thank you so much for dropping by!  Have a lovely weekend, sweet Friends!  Happy Paint Party Friday!

Garden Home

This is an acrylic painting of a birdhouse which hangs next to the fence in my garden. This is a joint venture. My youngest daughter first sketched it in pencil, then I painted. If you notice, the detailing was done in pen and ink.
.
One of my favorite things to draw is wood grain. There's something so graceful and beautiful about the grains found in wood and I love to recreate the effect.
.
The original painting was auctioned off in a fund-raiser for a local charter school. I felt honored to be a part of helping the school to become successful.

DADDY UPDATE: Dad's appointment with the neck brace folks was disappointing. The brace they had did not fit. There's another they want to try. If that doesn't work, the VA will make another appointment to fit a custom brace. After that, the only option is a risky surgery. Without surgery the muscles in his neck will continue to weaken which, with the broken bones in his neck, will give no support. Eventually without the brace, his head would flop to one side. This is a very scary time for my family. We would appreciate your prayers for Dad and for our family.

Garden Faery

I have always imagined faeries must live in the garden. Though we live near the heart of our town, there is something whimsical and lovely about my garden, especially in Springtime, and early summer.
. In the morning when traffic is scarce, the sun slips through the sparkles hung in the trees, creating an illusive beauty which delights my heart.
.
This lovely garden faery was one of the first I imagined stepping shyly through the flowers to say "hello."
.
I used a mixed media of Prismacolor pencils and ink to create this drawing. The lineart takes three-four hours to complete. Adding color to the drawing takes an additional three to six hours.

Daisies!

The sun has been shining, and the daisies are beginning to open. The smiles on their cheery flowery faces do indeed distill a feeling of happiness into the air. Here you see the little daisy faery who lives in my garden.

Here's a question for you! If you were a flower, what kind would you be, and why?
