Picture of A Sister's Love -Paint Party Friday

This is a piece of art I created years ago.  I don't have time to scan, copyright and post something new this morning--there's a lot going on this weekend--so I'm re-posting this sweet picture of a sister's love.

I have always loved the story of Miriam. She was an Israelite who long ago, was enslaved with her family, in the land of Egypt. The Pharaoh at that time became afraid of the Israelites because they had grown so strong and numerous. He ordered the midwives to destroy every newborn baby boy. When the midwives refused to do so, soldiers were sent. It must have been a terrible, frightening time.

Thus Miriam's baby brother was hidden for three months. When they could no longer hide the little fellow, his mother came up with a novel idea. And so the tiny baby floated upon the waters of the Great Nile River in a papyrus basket coated with tar and pitch. His sister followed at a distance, hidden in the thick reeds.

Miraculously the Pharoh's daughter was walking along the river's bank seeking a place to bathe. She saw the basket and sent one of her servants to get it. When she opened it, little Moses was crying, and this touched the Royal lady's heart.

Then Miriam bravely stepped from the reeds saying, "Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?" So the Pharaoh's daughter paid Moses' mother to be his nurse. The royal lady loved the boy and adopted him as her own son. Moses grew up to be a great man, who saved his people from terrible cruelty and slavery.

His little sister's gentle love, bravery and loyalty are an example to us all.

Happy Paint Party Friday dear Friends!  Have a beautiful day and thank you for dropping by--your visits bring joy and encouragement to my heart.

Star Baby Lullaby -Paint Party Friday

Before my niece was born over 11 years ago, I drew this picture as a shower gift for her Mom.  My sweet Sis still has it!

I am posting the drawing today in honor of another niece, my sweet Melissa, who only a few minutes ago, gave birth to a beautiful little baby boy!

I am so proud of her!  I hope you are all having a wonderful day.  I know I am!

Blessings and peace to all of you dear ones.  Thank you for dropping by--your visits are such a joy.  Happy Paint Party Friday!

Madrona's Tiny Friend -Paint Party Friday

This little faery doesn't quite know how to walk yet--she's pulling herself up on a flower and greeting a small butterfly, which decided to land on her wee finger.

Above you see my reference picture of this darling little girl.  Our tiny Madrona makes all of us laugh and smile.  She has been the subject of many drawings and sketches since her birth.

Happy Paint Party Friday, all you wonderful artists and beautiful people. May God bless you, dear ones.  Have a lovely weekend and thank you for dropping by.

Baby in Blue Rose

My husband and I spent five fine days at the Oregon Coast in a cabin owned by a friend of ours.  It was sunny and gorgeous.  Such a romantic time!  I also spent some time painting this darling baby boy in a blue rose--it is a commission for a friend of ours.

I thought I would share him with you, he turned out so cute

Above you see the original photo. What a sweet boy!

Have a lovely week, everyone!

Miss Lily Twinkle Eyes

I was visiting a friend last week.  When she showed me pictures of her little granddaughter, I was captivated by this lovely child's twinkling eyes.  What a precious little girl!

I couldn't resist drawing little Miss Lily Twinkle Eyes.

Baby Fae Nest -Guest Heart Thursday

Years ago, I read of a rare type of bee which takes the petals of flowers to make a beautiful nest for her young.  She painstakingly removes flower petals from all color of flowers to create this small bee baby house.

It came to my mind that perhaps Faeries might do the same for their little ones.  Hence, I have done many drawings of faery babies sleeping in flower petal nests--just like Bee Babies. Of course, there are hearts hidden in the petals of this teeny one's tiny nesting place.

Nouveau Baby - Guest Heart Thursday

This is my beloved Sister Clytie and our youngest Sister.  The drawing was done in the style of Art Nouveau, which I love.  It was last year's Christmas gift--of course both sisters received a print.

My inspiration was a small black and white photograph of my sisters when they were small.  I was a freshman in high school when our youngest sister was born--as a teenager, though I liked her, I wasn't as interested in a little one.  So, our baby sister became Clytie's delight.  Over the years the friendship between us has grown.  Our sweet baby Sis continues to be a blessing to this day--she is a lovely young woman--all grown up with a little girl of her own.

I love being a big sister--I am indeed rich in love and family.  How I thank God for them both.

There are hearts hidden in this picture, of course!

Snuggle Bug

Monday, while my husband was having a biopsy done I sketched this little darling from an advertisement I found in the waiting room.  I find when I am uneasy or a little worried I doodle--somehow it makes whatever is happening a little easier to bear.

Thank you to those who have been praying for my Sweetheart.  We will hear what the results are on  Friday.  God bless you and have a perfectly lovely day!

Crocus Faery

The bitter cold of this early winter morning reminds me of how much I already miss Spring.

How lovely to watch the garden grow, to see the flowers popping from the soil, to catch wiffles of color from the flowering plums and smell wafts of fragrance from the honey trees along the river.

I remember the warm spring day I cleared the garden and discovered a late bloom and crocus faery peering from her fragile purple blossom.  And here she is!

I know, I know--I have a GREAT imagination!

Elea Repose - Illustration Friday

I am laughing at myself this morning.  The topic for Illustration Friday, is "Satellite."  However, my eyes told me our topic was the Hawaiian flower, Elea.  I must be getting old.  Elea Flower is the dear soul who came up with this Friday's topic!!!

I'm going to post this drawing anyhow. I could not find many facts about this beautiful flower online. It is a lovely bloom.  The soft pinks and gentle swirls of this flower reminded me of baby's faces.  Hence the title Elea Repose.

Malaya Leaf

The day my darling little niece was born, I knew my life would never be the same. She brings such joy and hope to my heart and into our lives.
.
There is no more wonderful tribute to Easter than seeing the beauty of Spring through the eyes of a child. So here she is, our sweet Malaya Leaf.

Baby Smiles

Little person in the skies,
Who are you?
I often see you smiling there,
Sometimes when I'm blue.
It makes my heart a little lighter,
In all that I must do.
Knowing you are happy,
Leaves a precious clue.

I often see this little one's face in the clouds. He always seems to be smiling. Makes my heart shine on days I feel sad. Below is the original cloud.

Treasure Within

This drawing is a reflection of the poignant memories of becoming a Mom for the very first time. The idea of a child growing inside is such a beautiful and intimate miracle. I am very grateful for the children God gave my husband and me. We have been immensely blessed to have them in our lives.

Little Princess

I've decided to dedicate the rest of this week to Motherhood.
.
This is a drawing I created for my brother's son's darling baby girl. How Dow would have loved to hold his tiny Granddaughter in his arms. I can picture that quirky little smile on his lips, and the pure delight beaming from his eyes. I am so happy our brother lives on through his son, daughter-in-law and Granddaughter.

In the future I plan to draw her inside of a rose--as her name is Rose.  She is a dear little girl.
.
Happy Mother's Day!
