Endless aching, sharpened need.
She has squandered her very being. She no longer cares.
Nothing fills her emptiness.
Only possessing the void, she fills it.
Sniffing, inhaling, swallowing. She gulps down the burning.
Welcoming the numbness fuzzing behind her eyes--
It fills her mind, trails down her limbs.
Then blessed, hated release . . .
But only for a moment,
Only for a moment.
Then again the crushing pain.
The lies, her unending struggle.
Many have tried to help.
Only a miracle can save her now.
I believe in Miracles . . .
"I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness." (Ezekiel 34:11, 12)
(This poem is my expression of grief over a beloved young friend, who is lost and in grave danger.)

What a wrenching, wrenching poem and picture. I can remember, as a young person and actually a not so young person, feeling like that. Not for a long while though. Your art is so amazing. Whoever this is, I'll pray for her.
Beth, I am so sorry about your friend. But, I know with your friendship she'll pull thru. Just keep loving on her.
How very sad. How blessed she is to have you for a friend.
very moving poem, I loved it.
Hope your friend improves.
Oh, how my heart aches to read this poem...I can only imagine her tremendous pain. She will be in my prayers.
How heartbreaking, sissie. Like so many of our youth today, the promised released isn't a release. I too will pray for your friend.
Such despair of soul. Your poem shares the pain and fear and helplessness... of the sufferer as well as the one wanting to help.
When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. I will pray they will hit their bottom soon and become a student of Life again, of Hope again, of Love again. Love of self, Love of Life and Love of God. All you can be is a steady beam of encouragement, a constant glimmer of Hope, unconditional Love and forgiveness... with God's grace, the student will appear... needing a tender, Loving, caring, non judgmental teacher.... I feel you are that teacher my friend.
Stand strong in Faith and Prayer. Be that spark of Hope, that flames to warm the soul. For you too are the student as am I. Students of Life and Love, Of Hope and Faith, constantly looking to our Teacher for guidance and forgiveness. Stand strong in the Light of Love.
My prayers are with you and your loved ones. Love and Light, Nina P.
Heart breaking but beautiful Beth. May our Father in Heaven who is mindful of each straying lamb, bless you in your atempt to reach out to this lost soul. My prayers as always are with you.
I feel the pain and worry you are feeling in every line of this post. I do so hope and pray that this girl is safe and that she can feel the support reaching out to her, and to you too.
Thinking of you

I can both see it in your picture and feel it in your words but miracles do happen. Perhaps now would be a good time.
Howdy Beth
Miracles are happening all around ,thank you for speaking about them thru the struggles of one in need of a miracle .
May everyone in this place of deep dark despair find the physical strenghth to see the miracle waiting to be recieved and embraced .
You are so amazing .
Thank you for sharing this wonderful post about a truly dark place that often touches so many around us.
I offer up prayers with you that the miracle will become reality and that deliverance will come. May a healing light shine and pierce
the darkness of pain and allow healing to renew this life to live and thrive beyond the darkness of pain.
Hugs
A sad but impressive poem, but your art of writing and drawing is great.
