Red Bird on the Wing

Red Bird on the Wing is the first commissioned piece I've done in many years! The color drawing will be used for the cover of a book written by one of Mom's writing students. Linda is a wonderful writer, and I can hardly wait to see the finished project..

When Linda first brought the idea to me, I created five pen and ink "thumbs" of what could be done. Her response to them is one I will always treasure. Here is an excerpt from what she wrote: "I'm just thrilled with the pictures. Your style is so like my inside. You have a bit of magic and nostalgia in your work. I am so smitten! How talented you are." .

And how privileged I am.

How beautiful! There is such a graceful feeling to this drawing. Love the choices of these particular greens, reds and browns. It draws the viewer in - a lovely book cover!

Beth, I love the texture in these drawings! It must've been very time consuming doing all the details :-)
