Bright Eyes -Paint Party Friday

This is another drawing I did awhile back.   I love the grace and artistry of the Art Nouveau style.  Alphonse Mucha is one of my favorite artists of all time.  You can often see his influence in my artwork.

Above you see my lovely reference model Lyric.  I've had the blessing of knowing her since she was born.  What a dear person she is.

Thank you for dropping by, even though I'm a bit late in getting this out.  Your comments always are a bright spot in my day!  Happy Paint Party Friday!

Springtime Apple Blossoms -Paint Party Friday

Here is yet another midnight sketch which somehow turned into a full drawing.  I will one day include her in a coloring book featuring Spring and flowers.

Above you see my beautiful reference model Rena.  Her grace and beauty translate well into this springtime maiden.

Spring has arrived here in the Pacific Northwest.  The Mid-Willamette Valley is filled with flowers and blossoming fruit trees.  The apple blooms are just now beginning to bud.

It is raining hard, the fire is merrily lit, and we are expecting a wind storm tomorrow morning.  I am such a kid.  I LOVE storms, as long as no one is hurt and property damage is minimal.  I hope the power goes out!

Thank you so much for dropping by--your visits bring my heart a sparkle of happiness!  Have a lovely weekend, dear ones.  Happy Paint Party Friday!

Gathering Flowers -Paint Party Friday

I met Marissa at an Office Depot store.  She has been a great help to me since I've known her.  She is a dear young woman.  She will be married soon, so I offered to draw a picture for her.  This is the lineart version--I will be adding color to it very soon.

Above you see the lovely reference photo she sent.   It does my heart good to do something special for this precious young couple.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Beauty in Nature -Paint Party Friday

This is one of my favorite drawings.  I finally was able to ink it last week.  I love cattails.  They are so graceful and lovely.  I also adore detail--as you can see by the background.  All those tiny flowers.  They took a long time.

It has been a difficult week.  I am so grateful to God for the gift of drawing.  That wonderful gift is a comfort and an outlet for my heart and soul.

Above you see my reference photo.  This is my lovely model Rena.  She is such a joy to draw!

Have a lovely week, sweet Friends and Happy Paint Party Friday.  May God bless you with comfort and unexpected joy.  Have a beautiful weekend and thank you for dropping by.  ((hugs))

Vintage Beauty -Paint Party Friday

Years ago, I found a photo of an old lady wearing a hat made of sticks.  I fell in love with her whimsical face and beautiful wrinkles.  It makes me happy to look into her eyes--I'm so glad I finally sketched her likeness.

I have not been feeling very well--it is just a simple summer cold, but boy oh boy, I can sneeze.  You know something is amiss when one sneezes and the air pressure from that sneeze lifts the roof from the walls!

Anyhow, whilst I was ill, I found solace in drawing.  I finished this graphite sketch a couple of days ago.  When I draw the world fades away, even when I'm feeling awful.

Happy Paint Party Friday, all you wonderful artists and beautiful people. May God bless you, dear ones, with His joy and peace.  Have a lovely weekend and thank you for dropping by.

Crown of Vetch -Paint Party Friday

This colored pencil drawing is of my niece.  She is a free spirit like me, with a grand imagination and a love for the Forest and all things faery.  Flora is a wonderful little friend and I love her very much.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, spring is in the air.  The trees are bright with blossoms.  There are flowers springing from the earth and the birds are trilling their spring songs.  It is a beautiful day today.  I am posting this picture, because on the other side of the country--you all have snow!  I'm envious of your snow, as I am sure you must be envious of our spring blossoms.

Happy Paint Party Friday, all you lovely people. Thank you for dropping by.

To Love -Guest Heart Thursday

Here is another of my drawings on toned sketch paper.  Of course, there is a heart to be found in this drawing.

The title of this piece is to honor and thank those in my life, who's love, prayers and dear friendship have surrounded me all these years.  You know who you are.

Have a lovely weekend and Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Her Green Eyes -Paint Party Friday

I love to draw my young friend Melissa.  This is a colored pencil drawing I did a few years ago.  It is one of my favorites.  I am very blessed to have such a lovely model.  I have posted this piece before, but since this is one of my all-time favorites, I thought I'd post her again.

Here is a peek into my sketchbook, as I drew her for the first time.

I am also very honored to be this week's featured artist for AlteredPages Artsociates.  What a lovely privilege!  When you get the chance, check out this great website.  I was inspired by all the ideas they share.

Fragrance of Roses -Paint Party Friday

This is a colored pencil drawing I made for Valentine's Day this past February.  I believe I've posted this one in the past, but this morning, looking out my window at the vibrant roses of Fall, I decided to post her again.  My inspiration was a vintage postcard from early 1900's.  This beautiful woman is the grown up version of the little girl I love to draw.

Here is a peek into my sketchbook from 2011.  This is the little girl I wrote about above. You can find her image all over the internet.  I often wonder who she was, but all records of her family were destroyed in WW2.   I don't know how I ended up with my drawing backward--I seem to remember printing a reference picture to take on a trip with me, so likely I printed it flipped somehow.  Drawing does help the miles go by faster!

Here is the actual postcard which inspired me--perhaps you recognize her dear little face.  My own beloved niece looks nearly identical to this sweet girl.  Perhaps that is why I love these postcards so much.

Have a lovely day and Happy Paint Party Friday!
