Blue Crickette'

Our little furry friend is in heaven today. Sunday afternoon our beloved Crickette' went missing. That morning we saw her sitting on the front steps watching us leave. My husband and I both had a strange feeling about her--she seemed sad. I blame myself for not stopping the car to put her into the house where she could be safe. I wish I would have followed my hunch.

With all we must accomplish over the next few days both Alan and I are very sad over the loss of our little friend. It will be a very difficult week for us. I'd appreciate your thoughts and prayers. We've faced so many hard things over the past few years--this latest loss seems to have opened the floodgate for my tears.

Beth thank you for your email. I'm sorry to hear about your beloved Criquette. Can you tell us what happened? Do you know? Do you want to go over it again, or is it better for you to keep your painful story to yourself. I know that sometimes it helps talk these things through.

Often when we lose something or someone we love, we blame ourselves. It's a way of bearing the apparent randomness of life's cruelties.

It was not your fault, whatever has happened. You cannot operate on the basis of every hunch that crosses your mind, otherwise you would go mad.

You must be kind to yourself, particularly at such times of loss.

On a full moon, she ran out in front of a lone car. The person stopped after they hit her, She died instantly. The person called the police, who came to pick Crickette up. The police said she died Saturday night. I asked three times, because oddly enough Sunday morning both my husband and I saw Crickette' sitting beside the back door. We both felt strange about her, but we were in a hurry to leave. It seemed to both us, thinking about it later, like she was saying goodbye--that in itself is a comfort.

But we miss our kitty.

Oh No! I am so sorry for you and her! I have 2 kitties myself and I never let them outside for this very reason and because I do not want them to kill the birds! How sad you must be. I will pray for you all.

I am so, so sorry to hear about your loss of dear Crickette. Our pets touch a part of our hearts that no human can reach. In such real and genuine ways. To lose one of these dear ones is to lose a part of our hearts. It does seem as though Crickette came to say goodbye; in light of that especially, you must not blame yourself. Your uneasiness must have been because she was already gone. My heart aches for you; I know how you will miss dear Crickette. I'm so sorry, dear friend.

First of all I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. I lost my Sara last year, I had her for 15 years. She passed away while we were gone too. She had a tumor on her stomach that burst. Anyway the tears are to be expected and again I am so sorry. :(

Second to reply to the comment left on my blog about my collage...

Oh my gosh Beth, thanks so much for your comment! That makes me fell so happy! It is nice to hear when someone likes your work that way you know if you are doing something right. I am kind of proud of her. It is just a lot of layers and brushes and actually three images.

Hugs to you

Thats so unfortunate.. I know how bad it will be, because, we have pets and when we lose them, its terrbly upsetting... Some animals are made to be with human beings...

Don't blame yourself - it was her time.
I've been through the loss of several cats and I found I just had to concentrate on how wonderful a life each cat had with us.
I guess that is one hard thing to deal with when we share our lives with animals - that their lives are shorter than ours.

What a beautiful and comforting moment that she came to tell you goodbye. You must realize that she knew she had to move on now.

May the memories of her presence in your lives carry you through your grief and loneliness and bring you peace.

We can learn so much from our furry friends, in their behavior, their unfailing companionship, and their dignity in death and life. I know you are richer with love for having had her.
