Windy Moon Flower -Paint Party Friday

I love the wind.  There's something mysterious and wonderful about it.  Sometimes it tiptoes down the alley, or wiffles great waves across the golden fields.  It can be as gentle as a kiss, or as rowdy as a tornado.  Here you can see its magic.

Happy Paint Party Friday, sweet Friends.  I hope you are doing alright during this pandemic.  Mumsie is back home now and I am feeling pretty lonesome.

Herald of Fall -Paint Party Friday

I have been so busy, I have posted this drawing from 2016 for your perusal.  This pen and ink piece is of a Friend of mine by the name of Zack.  Alas, I can't find the original photo of him blowing that wonderful horn, just know it was an inspiring photograph.

Blessings and peace to you all.  Thank you for dropping by, you are such an encouragement to my heart.

Happy Paint Party Friday!

Forest Moon -Paint Party Friday

Today is Friday the 13th.  Many folks believe it is an unlucky day.  Rather than cowering from the day's bad reputation, I have chosen to honor the beauty of dawning Springtime.  The drawing above is of a sweet deer who, a couple of nights ago, haphazardly wandered through the woodlands of my heart onto my sketchbook.

There is so much to see and experience...so much for which to be thankful. And the greatest blessing of all?  Not just the loveliness of Spring as it unfolds, but life and love.

Thank you so much for dropping by sweet Friends--your visits are another reason to be thankful!  Have a lovely weekend, dear ones.  Happy Paint Party Friday!

Gardener at Heart

I am proud and honored to announce that my incredibly talented Sister-in-Law Jane (lil' Sis) has published a collection of poetry, Gardener At Heart!

Her insights resonate with beauty, mystery, fun and something beautiful I can't even put into words.

You can order this remarkable volume of poems in paperback, or e-book format on Amazon: A Gardener at Heart .

You can find more information about this enchanting book, as well as a donation page and contact information, at Jane's website:  The Flying Crow Press!  Isn't that a cool name?  I love the cover of her blog--Both the website and the book cover were designed by her son, a young man with exceptional talent.

I am SO proud of my Lil' Sis.  I adore Jane's poetry, which reflects the beauty of her heart.  Even if you are not a gardener, I believe you will enjoy this book of lovely words.

I'm one of the blessed ones! I have a SIGNED copy!!!!

Grape Arbor Dryad

This lovely lady was hiding in the grape leaves which hang down into my garden from the neighbor's hedge. I think she might have been up to something.

I know, I know...I have a GREAT imagination!

Have a lovely day everyone.

Making Mermaids

This is a little pencil doodle I was inspired to draw last week.  I thought you'd enjoy the idea of Making Mermaids.  My love for fairy tales is once more evidenced in this drawing.

I apologize for being a bit out of touch this summer.  It has been a difficult three months.  It looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel now.  I hope to be around a bit more in the days ahead.

May life's best blessings be yours.  Have a great evening!

Her Secrets - Sunday Scans

Here is another doodle from my sketchbook.  I call this pencil sketch Her Secrets because of the mystery I see in this girl's face. I am sure there is a story here, waiting to be told.

Al's Photography Blog, by our good friend Al, hosts "Sunday Scans" each week.  Sunday Scans is a place for all things scanned.  So pick up your artwork, old photo albums, ephemera, postcards, ANYTHING which can be scanned and join in the fun!

The Traveler - Illustration Friday

As you can see--The Traveler walks the trail on a journey to somewhere, and she's not alone.  Her companion is a parrot, who, of course is not what he seems.

Who do you think he is?

For more wonderful artwork please visit Illustration Friday!

Enigma

I caught a mysterious face in the clouds this afternoon. It was amazing to see how well-formed his eyes and face were even before I began painting. I haven't quite figured this fellow out. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter. (grin)

Below is the original cloud formation I caught on camera.

Tender Tears

Because this blog augments my art web page, I will occasionally be re-submitting some of my earlier art stories. This morning I decided to re-visit Tender Tears, and the mystery which surrounds this chalk drawing.
.
I was 11 years old when my fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Young, gave the class a page of black construction paper and a thick stick of chalk. I vividly remember drawing a fan of lines from the bottom of the page, with horizontal lines crossing where I thought the eyes, nose and mouth should be. Time seemed to slow as I gently smudged chalk into the darkness of the paper. Slowly a face emerged. I did not know who it was, but I loved the tender expression of his eyes.

My Mother liked it so well, she framed my drawing and hung it in the stairwell of our home.

Over 30 years later, I slid the picture out of its frame to scan it into my computer.

Here is the mystery.

Imagine my astonishment when I noticed tear stains soaking through the chalk, trickling from those wonderful eyes, seeping down the plane of one cheek. If you look closely you can actually see the tear stains pushing through the chalk lines. How on earth did they get there? My drawing had been sealed in its frame for more than 30 years.

Today the picture, which I've entitled Tender Tears, hangs in our upstairs hallway gallery. Every now and then I stop to look, and to ponder how those tear stains got there.

Sissy thinks the picture looks a little like my husband. I am not sure. Either way, it's a wonderful mystery.
