Cats! -Paint Party Friday

You are probably wondering about this drawing...it took HOURS to get all that fur drawn to my satisfaction! Elvis, our fat Main Coon, now in heaven, posed for this picture along with one of my daughters. What fun to be a cat? I think I would like that.

Thank you so much for dropping by!  Have a lovely weekend, sweet Friends!  Happy Paint Party Friday!

I'm All Ears - Guest Heart Thursday

I will be continuing FAT Tuesday next week.  I apologize for missing this week's featured artists--I had a medical crisis--but all is well now.  Thanks for your patience!

Can you find the two hearts in this drawing?  Inspired by great artists from the past, here is a surreal drawing of Elvis the Main Coon cat. He filled our house with his magnificent girth and gigantic personality.
.
We will always and ever miss his sonorous song and funny kitty cat wit. He could say a million things with his eyes and a flip of his long whiskers. Here he is saying, "I love you. Got food?"

Kindred Spirits

This is a picture I drew of our wonderful old Main Coon cat, Elvis. He has a whimsical friend, as you can see. I still miss that big fellow. He was more dog than cat.

To draw this picture of kitty catz, I started with a pencil sketch, inking in the lines I liked, then erasing the pencil marks. I used my beloved Prismacolors to add vibrant colors. In this drawing I put in the intricate lines of his fur after I'd added the color. This was difficult, because the tiny ink pens I used often clogged with the beezwax of the colored pencils.

I've discovered since then, the old fashioned ink pens with nibs, which are dipped into indelible ink. They can splatter, but sometimes the results of such a mistake can be wonderful. And they don't have problems when I use them to draw in details after the color has been added.

Elvis and His Hat

Elvis De' Boombaugh was the undisputed King of our household. I still laugh at the antics of that big scamp of a cat. Our huge orange Main Coon has been gone for three years now, and I still miss the dear lug.

Here Elvis is wearing a woven hat one of the kids made for him.
