Lady of the Hill -Paint Party Friday

This is a drawing from last year at this same time.  I added color to it last week and I rather like the way it turned out.  This is my sweet middle daughter, who's beauty and kindness lend enchantment to every piece of art I feature her in. 

It is very cold where we are--for our area of the world 17 degrees is REALLY cold.  I can't remember feeling this cold in my life!  But the sun is shining and it is a new day.

Vermillion Skies

This is another of my tiny paintings, only the size of a baseball card.  I was inspired by pictures I have taken of the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean.  Pictures and paintings don't do justice to the breathtaking sunsets one can see here.

Here you see whales cavorting in the night sea.  This actually started out as something else--and those whales are remedying a mistake!  Sometimes mistakes turn out pretty good!

Blue Flowers, Gorgeous Sunset

I have been longing for Spring...in our part of the world, the fog has descended and we haven't seen the sun for ten days!  We are used to the rain--but this freezing grey fog has been a little tough to take.

Yesterday was a bright day, as I spent time with my darling niece.  We had a wonderful time painting with watercolors.  This is an ACEO I painted.  I adore this color of blue--the color of forgetmenots.

The painting above is only 2.5x3.5 inches and was painted by my talented niece.  She says it is a sunset.  Pretty amazing work for a five-year old!!!

Into Heaven's Sunrise

Ten days ago, Daddy left us at Sunset--here he is, joyfully stepping into heaven's sunrise.

This is the final effort of one of my first attempts to meld my own artwork into a real photograph.  The actual photo is very small.  I'm so grateful for this wonderful scanner.

Tangle of Hearts - Guest Heart Thursday

This is my very first attempt at cloud painting.  After a life and death encounter with a staff infection in my foot and leg, my family gave me a camera.  As I recovered, I would hobble around the block, viewing my world in a whole different way--through the camera's eye.

One late night, I spied a beauteous sunset through a tangle of curly willow branches.  I saw hearts!  Using a very old paint program, I attempted my first cloud painting.  I was using the mouse as my paintbrush, so it took a very long time.

Star Dancer, ACEO, ATC

Malaya, my darling little niece and I did some watercolors together Thursday.  This star dancer is a girl I often draw.  I don't know why--she just keeps showing up.

Above you see my darling Malaya's watercolor called Sunset Outside My House.  Not too bad for a four-year-old!  It is so fun to teach her how to mix colors, spread them across the paper--we are both learning various brush techniques--which as you can see, in a four-year old's hand, can have some spectacular results!  I think this picture is breathtaking.

Cloud Ship

Day before yesterday my husband and I drove to the supermarket. He opened my door for me, looked skyward and then pointed at the clouds floating above.

"It's a ship!" He exclaimed. Ha! Even my husband is seeing things in clouds these days!

Of course, I was ready--camera bag slung over shoulder, I grabbed my camera out and took a picture of it only seconds before the cloud ship dissolved into memory.

This Cloud Ship is for my darling husband, who loves all things nautical.

Pink Shoulders

The sunsets have been unusually gorgeous lately, probably due to all the field burning taking place this time of year! Such an unromantic assumption! Nevertheless, I was grateful to catch this lovely young lady as she floated across the deep blue of mid-summer sky--she of the Pink Shoulders.  She is best seen when enlarged.
