Sunflower Angel -Postcard Friendship Friday

I posted this back in 2009.  It has been such a busy couple of weeks, I'm re-posting.  

Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers. They are so cheerful and full of sunshine. If you look closely you will see this lovely lady is a sunflower angel. Her wings are hidden. I've met this angel, and she pours goodness and beauty over everyone she meets. What a blessing she is.

Notice the cup of coffee in her hand...or is it peppermint tea?  I will let you decide.

Porthole

This is a commissioned piece I am sending off to Texas today.  The original idea came from a graphite drawing I did when I was only 17 years old.

As you can see, I've improved over the years--yet there is a magic in this original drawing I find hard to resist.

Ah, youth!  That young girl, so many years ago, would never have dreamed I would be posting her artwork on something like a blog!

Face of Light - Weekend Reflections

This is the first time I've entered one of my organic art pieces in Weekend Reflections.  This was so special, I wanted to share it.

We were getting ready to work on an addition to the back of my parent's home.  Chilly raindrops tumbled through the air in pockets of splashing cold.  Then suddenly the sun came out.  It peeked at us from between the branches of the trees.  Later I realized there was a face--a face made of light...perhaps an angel watching over us, as we worked.

Above you see this lovely shining face, with delicate fir needle earrings, as I first glimpsed her through the lens of my camera.

Sunspot

I created this piece of surreal artwork on our long drive to Spokane, Washington State.  On that eight hour drive, we drove through a dust storm--which I had never experienced before.  This lovely little Sunspot is the result of that frightening experience!

Sun Sprite

This is one of my very first cloud paintings. When I clicked the camera, it was a scud of clouds covering the sun in the center of a very blue sky. When I pulled up the photo on the computer--the camera had done something strange to the colors.

When I first began Cloud Painting, I used a mouse to enhance what I saw in the pictures I took with my camera. Drawing and shading with a mouse takes a LONG time! This is one of my first attempts at Cloud Painting.
