FAT Tuesday Artist Spotlight #25

I created Featured Art Tuesday (FAT Tuesday) Artist Spotlight, to showcase inspiring Artists and to provide a forum for all Artists to share their work with one another--this includes every type of medium, photography and crafts, including writing and poetry.

For details on how to join FAT Tuesday Artist Spotlight  see the bottom of the page.
I hope you will join in the fun!

I have been a fan of Van Heist for years.  His drawings are creative and inspiring--his gifting is almost miraculous.  But this young artist is not only tremendously talented, he is a thoughtful, courageous person, who's insights bear perusal.  It is my privilege to introduce you to his inspiring artwork.

Of his work as an artist and cartoonist, VanHeist writes, "It's fun work, though any job has its frustrations, and comics often come saddled with the immediate frustration of knowing it's an uphill battle towards sustaining yourself through the long hours of work, both mentally and monetarily."

To see more of VanHeist's wonderful artwork, visit VanHeist.

I have only recently become acquainted with Ruthie Redden's whimsical artwork.  The graceful detail she puts into her drawings amazes my eyes.  When I see her work, I am inspired.  She is not only a gifted artist, but is a tremendous photographer.

Ruthie writes, "As a pictorial story teller, I spend my time striving to create work that makes my heart sing. My hope is that the viewer may experience even a little of the pleasure from my work as i felt when creating it."  Indeed, to see her artwork is to feel a song.

Happily, Ruthie sells her artwork at her Etsy Shop, Mythweaver.  You can see her intricate art at Ruthie Reddon Artworks and view her wonderful photography at Precious Things.

I first met Dave Dube through Postcard Friendship Friday and photographer Abraham Lincoln.   Dave gathers old paperwork of every kind, then uses the paper to draw the most amazing pieces.  What a creative artist!  The spectacular drawing above is a recent entry in the Western Heritage Art Show.  This dear artist is not just only incredible artist, he is a genuinely lovely person.  You will love getting to know him and his work.

Dave writes, "I'm a sixty-two year old artist with a taste for history and the printed word. I've been putting my art on envelopes for well over fifty years, and still continue to do that either on a whim or of necessity. I consider Thank You cards a necessity!"

To see more of Dave's inspiring work, visit Old Paper Art.

Only a few days ago, my talented friend Tammie Lee introduced me to Kathy Hare's wonderful illustrations.  The piece above, entitled "Island" deeply touched my heart and filled my eyes.  This fills my heart, too.

Of this piece, Kathy writes, "My Island Print for sale on Etsy all proceeds to the British Red Cross to help the victims of the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami." I find this piece very moving--my eyes fill with tears every time I look at it.

To see more of this precious artist's work, visit Moon Gazing Hare.  You can find this beautiful island piece along with others for sale on Etsy at Kathy Hare's shop.

I met Skylar McCready through some artist friends on Facebook.  What a wonderful artist she is--she fills her world with wit, whimsey and color.  She has an almost magical command of color and space.  When I see her work, I am instantly drawn to it.  What a fanciful artist she is!

Of herself, Skylar says, "I'm a "fabulous" nurse. Ask ANY of my residents! Enjoying being single... (until Mr. Right comes along that is).  I love cats and use my beloved Hyacinth as muse for many of my paintings. :D"

Happily Skylar's artwork is available not only to peruse, but to purchase, on her webpage, Art by SkyM.

FAT Tuesday Artist Spotlight #23

I created Featured Art Tuesday (FAT Tuesday) Artist Spotlight, to showcase inspiring Artists and to provide a forum for all Artists to share their work with one another--this includes every type of medium, photography and crafts, including writing and poetry.
I hope you will join in the fun!

The artist who created this exquisite piece is known as "White."  She lives in Germany and is new to me.  I was so struck by the beauty and realistic feel of her work.  There's something whimsical, yet tremendously powerful about her drawings which touches me deeply.

I usually do not feature more than one piece of artwork by a featured artist--today is one of those rare occasions I decided to do things differently.

This wonderful artist has had a recent set back.  Her computer is on the fritz and she's saving money to either fix it, or to buy a new one.  She's also suffered a bad injury to her arm, which makes it difficult for her to draw at times.  I could not imagine not being able to draw!!!  Please visit this dear lady to encourage her!  Her work is spectacular and leaves me in awe.  I am so inspired by her drawings!

Happily, White's incredible artwork is for sale, she even does commissions!  You can find this artist's inspiring work at White Spirit Wolf Photography and at her DA account, White Spirit Wolf.

I have featured Peggy Gatto's beautiful artwork before.  This morning I was so taken by this wonderful painting of her back yard!  Isn't this lovely?

Peggy writes, "Art has become for me "therapy". I can celebrate happy occasions or work through sad or difficult times by creating art. I love creating special art for others. I often use old family pictures in my pieces and feel good about giving them birth again. I love to laugh,am very sentimental, and cry more happy tears than sad ones. Loyalty, honesty, and sharing good things with others is important to me. I enjoy seeing all the new art of artists friends and am learning something new every day! Laughing makes better wrinkles on your face!"

To see more of this eclectic artist's wonderfully creative pieces, visit Peggy’s Mixed Up Art

I came across Mayya's photography blog totally by accident.  I was so taken by the beautifully composed photos I found there.  I know you will be too--I especially loved the soft look of this cactus.

She writes, "My name is Mayya and I've been interested in photography since I was 10 years old! Now, 12 years later I've finally gotten myself a DSLR and am learning anything I can about digital photography!"

To see more of this unusual photographer, visit Mayya Medved Photography.

Up until recently, I'd never heard of Needle Felting.  I still am not sure how Katey created these utterly darling lambs.  They are SO CUTE!  She is also a painter--her artwork is SO inspiring.  There is something truly unique and special about her artwork!

Katey writes, "…'art' is part of me... I am rooted in a family of craftsmen & carpenters. I grew up watching cars getting fixed, home improvement projects, and where every manner of project always seemed to be in queue. "Creating" is like breathing. The short of it is that I was encouraged by those around me - other people noticed "something" about me long before I ever did. I just did it. I am convinced that all we do in life is an act of worship. How we worship and Whom is the heart of the matter."

You can find more pictures of these darling little sheep on Katey's facebook account, Blue Eyed Duck Studies and even more of her creative artwork on her blog at Blue Eyed Duck Studios

I have been a big fan of Tammie Lee for quite some time now.  Her photography has a quality about it I can hardly put into words.  Her poetry is exquisite, as are her pictures.  She is an accomplished artist with a special style which fills my eyes. Tammie is also one of the loveliest persons I've had the pleasure of getting to know.  You will love her, too.

Tammie writes, "Capturing the beauty of our natural world with photography is a great passion for me, as well as my business; Spirithelpers... It is my attempt to capture a spirit that uplifts and ignites the majesty in our hearts."

You can find Tammie Lee's wonderful photography at Spirit Helpers and her thoughtful artwork at Beauty Flows.  She also sells her lovely artworks and photography at her webstore, Spirithelpers

FAT Tuesday Artist Spotlight #19

This week, in honor of Bootz The Cat, I am featuring artists who love cats and who's drawings have touched my heart.

I created Featured Art Tuesday (FAT Tuesday) Artist Spotlight, to showcase inspiring Artists and to provide a forum for all Artists to share their work with one another--this includes every type of medium, photography and crafts, including writing and poetry.
I hope you will join in the fun!

Stephanie Manchipp’s work is new to me. This wonderful artist trained at Reigate School of Art and Design, and is a well-known artist whose work has been sought after by a variety of international publishers.

Stephanie uses a variety of mediums to create her imaginative pieces, including watercolour, oils, acrylic, pastels and oil pastels.  My favorites are her exquisite cats.  It is not surprising to discover she is a Member and Vice Chairman of the Society Of Feline ArtistsShe is a member of the prestigious Society of Industrial Artists and Designers, S.I.A.D., and sometimes exhibits her work along with her gifted husband, artist Ben Manchipp.

To see more of Stephanie’s lovely artwork, visit her gallery at Manchipp.com.

I have featured the art of Sandrine Curtiss on FAT Tuesday before--and I love her description of herself as a self-taught artist who, inspired by the talent of her older sister, started drawing portraits with graphite pencils.  I have actually had the awesome privilege of getting to know this incredibly talented artist.  Her artwork is not only truly amazing, but she is a lovely person.  Her drawings of cats especially touch my heart.

Not surprisingly, in the summer of 2002, Sandrine won a full scholarship for the Art Instruction Schools in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Her beautifully drawn pieces are so realistic, they almost seem to move.  She understands the soul of her subjects.  Sandrine is a HUGE inspiration to me.  I could look at her artwork and never get tired of looking.   Happily anyone can purchase her collectible artwork on EBay!

To see more of this precious artist's incredible work, visit Sandrine's Gallery.

I was delighted with artist Sue Sareen's cats.  The drawing above especially caught my attention.  Our Bootz sometimes slept in this exact position.  Though Sue paints across a wide variety of subject matter, she has a particular affinity with cats. She enjoys their independence, their sinuous grace and beauty of movement. Always in her paintings there is a strong sense of intimacy with the subject matter.

Sue has published a book on watercolour painting, produced two videos and frequently writes articles for the Leisure Painter, and The Artist magazines. She teaches regular classes and workshops on watercolour painting in her Nottingham studio and organizes painting weekends and holiday’s abroad.  That sounds like a LOT of fun.

See more of Sue Sareen's lovely work at Sareen Arts.

Dawn Russell's artwork is a delight to my heart.  A native Californian, this talented artist has a variety of styles and subjects.  She has been drawing since she could hold a pencil, and has wanted to be an artist since she can remember.

Her artwork can be found in collections around the world.  She has been a juried artist in several guilds and has won awards in international competitions since she was 10 years old!  Her artwork has been widely published in various magazines.  Dawn specializes in  pet portraiture, but that's not all, this wonderful artist also does cartooning, greeting card designs, trading cards, and more. She paints, sculpts, draws, and does something called pyrography. It is no surprise she also designs jewelry!

To see more of this eclectic artist's fabulous work, visit Dawn Russell Artwork and Photography.

Jackie Coote's cat drawings are filled with personality.  The painting above is especially special to me, because this kitty reminds me so much of our dear Bootz.  Jackie is a self-taught artist and a member of the Society of Creative Arts of Newtown and the Putnam Arts Council of Brewster, NY.  She works mainly in watercolour, but has lately begun to get back into acrylics and oils.

Jackie painted while in high school and became interested in painting again after she raised her family. Although Jackie's work as an artist varies in style and subject matter, she is frequently inspired by her own five cats (Frank, Dennis, Eddie, Lily and Donald), as well as the furry companions of her friends and family.

To see more of Jackie's wonderful drawings, visit her gallery at Feline Artists.

I have the lovely privilege of knowing this artist personally.  She is my dear Friend.  Amber Day is a self-taught artist, who's beautifully detailed watercolors are exceptional.  Though she paints a variety of subjects, her cat drawings are especially cool.  There is a whimsical quality to her work which greatly inspires me.  You can find Amber's collectible artwork for sale on Ebay under animaegirl! I own a few pieces of her work, including the tiger above, so I feel especially blessed!

You can see more of Amber's charming artwork at Doodles by Amber.

Here is another of my favorite artists, Lynn Risor.  She is an inspiration to me.  I especially love her cats.  I have no idea how she is able to create the beautiful paintings she does--but I am grateful to God for her presence in this world.  Lynn also does incredible murals, as well as animals painted on rocks which look so real they almost seem to move.  She is a brilliantly gifted artist and I am honored to call her Friend.

To see more of Lynn's charming artwork, visit her blog and art gallery at L. Risor.

FAT Tuesday Artist Spotlight #18

Some of you have asked about the Name "FAT Tuesday."  It is merely a clever acronym my sweet Sis and I came up with for Featured Art Tuesday!

I created Featured Art Tuesday (FAT Tuesday) Artist Spotlight, to showcase inspiring Artists and to provide a forum for all Artists to share their work with one another--this includes every type of medium, photography and crafts, including writing and poetry.
I hope you will join in the fun!

J. Stephen Hunter is one of my favorite artists.  He is incredibly imaginative and creative, as you will see when you look at the various mediums he uses.  Not only does he paint light in a way I've never seen before, but he creates whimsical clocks, beautiful things out of leaves and is a gifted photographer.  I have met this gentle, brilliant teacher in person.  He has inspired my heart in every area of my own art.

He writes, "…I love being an artist.  I know I am one because the voices in my head all come from my right brain! Creativity is my adrenaline so I'm continually doing new things and avoiding repetition. I hope I never get pigeon-holed into “this is what I do.”

To see more of J. Stephen Hunt's wonderful art, visit Right Brain Reader

I have the lovely privilege of knowing this artist personally.  Amber Day is a self-taught artist, who's beautifully detailed watercolors are exceptional.  She constantly surprises me with her imagination and wit.  She makes me laugh, yet there is often an interesting pathos to be found in her art.  There is a whimsical quality to her work which greatly inspires me.  You can find Amber's collectible artwork for sale on Ebay under animaegirl! I own a few pieces of her work, so I feel especially blessed!

Of herself, Amber simply writes, "I am a stay-at-home Mom, artist, and author.  I've been happily married for 12 years now (we are still on our honeymoon).  I'm a life long Oregonian and love the greenery and mountainous landscape of this state!"

You can see more of Amber's charming artwork at Doodles by Amber Day.

Bill Ross is new to me.  I LOVE his hilarious cartoons.  They make me laugh and his concepts are brilliant.  I hope to see more of this artist's inspiring work!

Bill writes,  "I was... fortunate to make the brilliant decision to move to Nashville, Tennessee, the greatest city on the planet. I know, that's a debatable assessment of Nashville, but I really, really like it here. I'm convinced that if I could sing, play an instrument, or were good looking, I could be a country music star. Till then, I make my living drawin' funny pictures, and painting rectangular paintings."

To see more of Bill Ross's humorous artwork visit Bill Ross Draws.

Melinda Lincoln-Napoletano is one of the most thoughtful, inspiring individuals I've had the pleasure of knowing.  Her eclectic pieces are a study in contrasts--her poetry is moving and her thoughts are profound.

She writes, "I still believe in magic and dreams and that I am the one in charge of creating my own reality. This is a very magical time of year and I absolutely refuse to let anyone destroy that for me. This next year will be a time of growth for me....of making dreams come true and accomplishing goals....of determination and hard work...of changes.....and to be honest...I am tired of waiting around for my life to sort of happen on its own....I gotta make whatever happen happen if I want it to....so look out 2011!"

To  be utterly inspired, visit Breathe.

I found Rosie Rowe in my search for inchys.  They are tiny detailed one-by-one inch drawings--Rosie's are exquisite!  However, once I'd lost myself in her blog, I found even more treasure.  She is a very creative lady.  One of my favorites is the piece I found above.  What a beauty!  And how very inspiring.

Rosie writes, "...the more I write, the more occurs to me and I lose myself in the page. I don’t have time at the moment to set aside proper time for art journaling. I sit with a tray on my lap to support my French Kitty book, a glue stick, my printouts, scissors and a couple of clear tubs which hold my most used pens and pencils, my tin of Neocolour Brights II and a watercolor brush."

To see more of Rosie's fabulous work, visit Altered Art & Stuff.

J. Steven Hunt is an amazing artist.  I have had the honor of meeting this extraordinary artist personally.  He paints light.  His work fills my eyes and inspires me.  Steve is a master of many mediums--I found myself hard pressed as to which of his marvelous pieces to spotlight.  You'll be pleased to discover many of his paintings, both originals and prints are actually for sale!  You'll also love his clocks, which are whimsical and delight the eye.

Steve writes, "I guess I just love being an artist. I know I am one because the voices in my head all come from my right brain! Creativity is my adrenaline so I'm continually doing new things and avoiding repetition. I hope I never get pigeon-holed into “this is what I do.” I like photography, graphic design, acrylic painting, oil painting, woodworking, etc."

I believe Steve is another of the great artists of our age.  It is amazing that this great, yet humble man takes time to talk to, and advise artists who do not have his extensive experience.  He is a mentor and a teacher at heart.

To see more of Steve's fascinating artwork and indulge in some fascinating "artsy talk," visit The Right Brain.  I know he'd love to hear from you!

I found Tammie Lee through my Sister, Clytie.  Her exquisite images and lovely poetry are stunning.  I know the word "Stunning" is sometimes over used these days--but Tammie's photography can be described by exactly that word.  She is a brilliant photographer and artist who inspires my soul.

She says, "Capturing the beauty of our natural world with photography is a great passion for me...It is my attempt to capture a spirit that uplifts and ignites the majesty in our hearts."

To see more of Tammie's amazing photos, visit Spirit Helpers.

I have had so much fun getting to know Darlene.  She is a lovely lady who's effervescence is irresistible!  These are some of the dolls she's been making for the holiday season!  They are hand-made, seven inches tall and are on display at her local Art Center.  She is a multi-dimensional artist, who's work  enchants the eye.

She writes, "for some reason I just can't help but laugh to myself at these dolls. They just all have 'attitude' and when I set them together they look like they belong as a family and should never part from each other... I realize small things are so much more difficult then larger dollz... it is great fun creating these though... each has their own unique personality.. enjoy!"

To see more of Darlene's Creations visit A Dancing Mango.

Here is another of my favorite artists, Lynn Risor.  She is an inspiration to me.  I have no idea how she is able to create the beautiful paintings she does--but I am grateful to God for her presence in this world.  She also does incredible murals, as well as animals painted on rocks which look so real they almost seem to move.  She is a brilliantly gifted artist.

Lynn writes, "I paint a LOT!!!  I'm a self-taught Texas whimsy artist.  Every time I paint anything that turns out half way 'OK' ... I'm tickled pink!!!"

To see more of Lynn's charming artwork, visit her blog and art gallery at L. Risor.

I have one of the most talented Sisters in the world.  Her creativity knows no bounds.  She is an artist,  creative writer and photographer.  Clytie sees things from a fascinating perspective. She finds unexpected beauty all around -- it might be a rusted hubcap, a tree reflected in a piece of broken window, or a hunk of unidentified metal lying in the leaves.  Clytie is one of my biggest inspirations.  She is a part of my heart -- her random way of seeing our world delights and fills my eyes.  She writes, "I see things differently. But that's okay. I am an artist. In my own way."

To see Clytie's intriguing art photography, visit Random Trash.

Valerie Greeley is an illustrator and textile designer.   I love the detail she puts into her artwork.  She has been such an inspiration to me.  She writes, "I have a passion for pattern and for creating books from start to finish including the illustration, decoration, printing and binding." Wow! And isn't this squirrel darling?  The story behind the artwork is fun, too.

Please visit Valerie to see her inspiring artwork, at AcornMoon.

James Browne has been an inspiration to me for years.  James' whimsical artwork just fills my eyes.  The artist  writes, "The road for me has just begun and there is still much to paint. I may need a faery or two to help me hold my brush when I am old and grey but in the meantime I will let the paint flow and the imagination soar. I have a lifetime to paint, with a subject matter that is endless, with one goal in mind, and that is, to keep the child in all of us."

To observe the fantastic world of this amazing artist, visit Everland!

I recently found Alison King on Illustration Friday--what a hoot!  Alison's artwork made me laugh and filled my eyes.  As you can see from this wonderfully humorous drawing, she has a very different way of looking at the world!

You can find her fabulous artwork at Alison King's Illustrations.

I saw this wonderful piece at my parent's home--My darling Sissy, who is one of my greatest inspirations, has done it again!  This is just perfect for the upcoming holiday!  Those are REAL spiderwebs, you know!  She writes, "I watched as the abandoned mega-church across the street became a magnet for taggers and graffiti artists. Many works of art were made on walls backed with drywall. Subsequent vandals kicked in these walls, leaving pieces of graffiti scattered around. I pick these up, remove the drywall backing, and turn them into art." Each piece Clytie shows on her blog is made from GENUINE graffiti, trash, recycled wallpaper, and found treasures.  My sweet sis writes, "I have never felt like an artist before - until now."

Please join  Clytie on her He'Art'ful journey to "become the artist she never thought she was."  (grin)  The truth is, I've always known an artist lived in her soul--she is one of my greatest inspirations.

You can find her wonderful artwork at He'Art'ful.

I love this artist's creative bent.  She is SO creative, as you can see from this beautifully crafted Christmas ornament she made from a small tin she bought from Walmart! What fun!

You will be totally inspired when you visit Tales from an OC Cottage.

I found Al's wonderful photography blog some time ago.  This is one of his photos from many years ago.  A one time lecturer, writer on European Affairs and bus conductor, Alan Burnett now divides his time between walking the dog and a little harmless blogging.  I have been inspired by his gifted photography work, I know  you will be too!

To see more of Al's photography, visit Al's Daily Photo Blog.

I have followed Peggy for a year or so.  She is SO creative--and inspiring!  Peggy says, "I often use old family pictures in my pieces and feel good about giving them birth again. I love to laugh, am very sentimental, and cry more happy tears than sad ones."  She enjoys seeing all the new art of her artist Friends and says she learns something new every day.  She is an inspiration!

To see more of Peggy's creative artwork visit Peggy's Mixed Up Art.

I found Diane's blog through Illustration Friday.  Her work is whimsical and precious.  She says, "I like smiling. Smiling's my favorite."  This happy attitude is reflected in her artwork.  Diane is a brilliant, thoughtful artist who's work delights the eye and tickles the funnybone.

To see more of this lovely artist's work, visit Diane at Dudadaze!

Somewhere along the line,
the big zero of time was twisted
at the waist to become an eight.
An hourglass of days, slipping slow
from the top, then fast below the belt.
Is it providence, or a lemniscate of fate?
I like to think of myself as a verb
and not the object. Chop-chop!
I wait the hours. I empty my head of winter.
I am frightened by other people’s fears,
but not of the eight, not of the hourglass of days.
September 2010 by Tess Kincaid

The poetry of Tess Kincaid captures the imagination.  She is a talented writer who's unique viewpoint often causes one to ponder.  Her poetry is exquisite and poignant.

To read more from Tess, visit Life at Willow Manor.

This artist uses color, patterns and words in a way that delights my soul.  One of her greatest inspirations is her eldest daughter who was mostly silent until she was three.  This wonderful Artist/Mom writes, "Then poof - nearly overnight - she started dispensing crisp, neatly articulated sentences based on the speech pattern of a 90 year old and the grammar rules from another planet."  I find it wonderful that this artist  has been inspired by her own dear little girl and this charming artwork is the result.

To see more incredibly funny and delightful artwork, as well as fun photography visit Artsyville.

Becky's artwork is filled with whimsical beauty.  She is a Mixed Media Artist who shares her joy of the things which bring her happiness.  She writes, "Sometimes the things I like are a bit silly but I like to laugh and so I hope you will be able to laugh along with me."

To visit see more of Becky's wonderful artwork, visit her at Whymsical Musings!

I am in awe of Desiree's talent!  She dabbles in many mediums, one of which is painting.  As you can see from this piece her work is amazing.  Her quilts are also extraordinary.  This talented artist's imagination has no bounds.  She says, "I am on a creative journey, and I would love for you to join me. Multimedia entertainment! Who knows what I will be working on next!?"

Well, I for one can hardly wait to see!  To see more of Desiree's lovely work, visit The Clothesline!

I only recently discovered the inspiring work of Bleu Turrell.  His graphite illustrations are soft and detailed.  They take my breath away.  Bleu writes, "My creative focus has been art and illustration for a while. I like to play around and try new things."

To find his fabulous "experimental and personal works" visit Bleu at Daily Artwork by Bleu Turrell.

Krista's artwork always makes me smile.  There is something about her sense of humor and the way she see life--and shares it with the rest of the world that delights my heart.  She says, "I love to paint anything that celebrates life and the God who made us."  Indeed, her artwork shouts with joy!

To see more of this sweet artist's work, visit Krista at Krista Hamrick Illustrations!

Paula is a writer of poems and deeply thoughtful words.  She photoshops her poetry into old postcards and vintage artwork.  There have been so many times she has put into words, that nebulous thing which my heart senses and feels, but cannot express.  Her heart is so tender, her thoughts so touching.

To find Paula please visit Tattered Gold.
