This is a peacock commissioned by a dear friend of mine, hence the title, Bev's Peacock. I finished this colored pencil drawing a couple of weeks ago, and brought it to her just a few days ago. I am delighted to say that she loved it.
Above you see my reference picture. This is a beautiful table cloth
hand embroidered by Bev's Mom, our beloved Grandma Gladys. It is a
privilege to be a part of the family, and to partner with Grandma to
give dear Bev--my adopted older sister--something she loves so much.
Here is a peek into my sketchbook from long ago. I created this abstract graphite drawing when I was just 18 years old.
Have a lovely day and
Happy Paint Party Friday!

Your peacock is wonderful, it will surely be treasured. Valerie
I love that 18 year old drawing! I still see that same rich imagination in your work today that you had back then. The peacock is gorgeous! How big is the drawing? Your friend will love it!
Wonderful peacock drawing in colored pencils! It looks just like the tablecloth. I know it must be a family heirloom now and will be passed down with the tablecloth for generations.
So pretty!! Love the details!
This is the first time I've seen a drawing made from an embroidery (instead of the usual other way round). I enlarged the picture - recommend this to others - and the drawing/painting is just brilliant, every part of it, flowers, columns, peacock. I'm going to get my coloured pencils out right now.
I embroidered a Peacock bedspread a very long time ago. I hadn't thought to put it in a painting. Your card is beautiful. Blessings, Janet PPF
