I've posted this before. This is one of my favorite drawings from long ago, so I would put it up again. It is hard to believe so much time has passed since I drew this picture.
I'm not sure who is the most surprised, the faery, or the kitty cat! In my mind's eye, this is one of the faeries who frequent my garden--I am sure there have been more than one skirmish between cat and fairy folk over the years. It is my belief the winged ones love teasing the cats.
I know, I know--I have a GREAT imagination!
I did the first part of this drawing in graphite. Once that was done, I carefully drew in the lines using India ink. Once the ink was good and dry, I erased the pencil lines and used my beloved Prismacolor pencils to achieve the bright effect you see here.
Happy Paint Party Friday, all you wonderful people. Thank you for dropping by.

You are such a fine artist and I am glad to know you dear. Blessings.
fun to hear how you created this. So wild and colorful and somehow perfect for Halloween~
Another amazing drawing, Beth! The texture of the cat's hair as well as kitty's brilliant eyes are especially stunning. And what a little mischief-maker your fairy is!
Pretty dang cool Sis I love that twinkle in the cats eyes...beautiful art work!
Have a great Halloween...let someone else answer the door, you take it easy. love ya!
I am in absolute love with this picture! I will think of it when I see the cats outside suddenly jumping around for no reason.
I never thought of the faeries as causing the cat fights outside or their howling. A great drawing for Halloween.

Hi how are you?
I was looking through your blog, and I found it interesting, and inspiring to me, so I thought why not leave you a comment.
I too have a blog that I use out of Southern California here in San Diego.
Mostly it's a collection of artistic expression, and I have many friends with the same interests, maybe you can become my friend, and follow, and I can also follow you, if that is okay.
Well I hope to hear from you soon, and or read about you….LOL
Sincerely,
Jesse
This is so cool. The colors are amazing!
I love the expression on the cat's face--and you've done a fantastic job with the eyes. And yet again, I could picture this illustration in a children's book. Well done!
How great is this?.. omg.. so sweet.. what a work of ART! I love it!

The colors are wonderful! And so is your imagination.
Such a great painting! You have captured that moment of terror so perfectly.Happy PPF
I didn't expect that kitty face to jump out at me so much. Always fun to have a little surprise.
That kitty looks fierce - LOL! Beautiful drawing - great work with colored pencils - they are not my first choice of medium - maybe because I don't have patience to work with them
Beautiful Beth!

Hi Beth,
So wonderful to hear from you! I've been pretty bad about visiting other blogs these days - sometimes life can keep you busy :) I'm sorry to hear that things haven't been going well for you these past couple of years. Hope everything turns around and I'm happy to hear that you're continuing to work on your artwork - it is always wonderful :)
I adore the cats eyes so beautiful a picture well worth revisiting.
I hope all is well with you and your family.
This is very cool. I'm curious about the use of India ink? How do you apply that? Love the imaginative worlds that you portray Beth!
