Plumage

She is a princess who is doomed to become a swan by day, holding her human form by night. The man the Princess loves is also beloved by a beautiful, but wicked witch who has wreaked her rage and jealosy upon her unfortunate rival.

Only the kiss of true love upon the beak of a swan will break the spell -- but who could fall in love with a swan? And who would kiss a swan upon its beak? Hmmmmm . . . .

It is fortunate that nearly every fairytale I've ever read ends with the words, "and they lived happily ever after."

Thanks, Beth, for starting my day with despair, anguish, and a bleeding heart. :p But with all those daisies in her hair, surely her innocence will be rewarded with happiness ever after. Beautiful! Sigh.... ♥

Beth - besides the fact that you're a terrific blogger and - of course - artist, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the comments you leave on my site, as well as those I read that you have left on other people's sites.
I've left you an award to honour that and you can pick it up right here:

Wow, this was so cool. Loved both the pic and story. Happily ever after lives in the pure heart of the childhood dream. Which is why I read books with happy endings :)

Really nice work! I love the detail in the swan and her feathers. You have much more patience than I! :)

She's beautiful... captivating, she won't have trouble finding a nice hard working man of the earth to kiss her beak. Somehow, I don't feel the prince deserves to get her, seeing as she is so in tune with nature... and somehow a life of a princess will change her earthly qualities.
