Marry Me -Paint Party Friday

This was a wedding gift for a dear friend of mine.  I am SO happy for Janet and her dear love Wayne.  The best is yet to come.  I've been married for over 30 years.  My husband and I have had such a great adventure--and the adventure continues.

Above you see my reference photo.  What fun to work with these two.  They are such precious young people.

The graphite drawing above is from my sketchbook some years back.  I was inspired by a postcard of a girl who's father was a photographer in the early 1900's.  He took many pictures of his family, and put them onto postcards.  My favorite photos are of his little girl.  She had such an amazing camera presence.  This is one of the rare pictures of her as a grown woman.  Sadly, in WW2, all of the negatives and information about the photographer and who he might have been were destroyed.  I just love this girl's face.

Have a lovely day and Happy Paint Party Friday!

Wonderful how you have painted the arch of the sky and the trees behind the young couple, it's such a very attractive painting and so true to the source.

These pieces are fantastic, Beth! You are so imaginative with your ideas. I like how you transformed the couple into what they felt in their hearts, like a prince and princess... And the drawing of the girl from the past... that's so beautiful. I've been married 30 years too. Going to take a little vacation trip this year, for the first time ever just the two of us!

The glowing comments you left on my blog will serve to encourage me all the next week! Thank you so much. Coming from such a talented sketch/paint artist, it means a lot. Your work of art for the couple to be married is beyond beautiful. The images and the colors are working together to make a really wonderful piece of art.

Wow Beth, this is so beautiful, romantic and more than creative. What a great job you've done. I love it!! By the way, thank you for the advice on the "r" problem. EEK! :) I will fill a bottle with mint spray from the health food store and do what you did. My friend Judie says moth balls are another way. Thanks ever so much.

Oh how cool that you made the couple into characters. I'll bet they loved it. I also really love that graphite drawing. Absolutely beautiful. Sorry to hear about the photographer disappearing from the profession during the war, though it's sadly not surprising.
