Daughter of the Sea -Paint Party Friday

I am delighted to post this little mermaid as a part of Paint Party Friday. This is one I've been working to finish for a friend of mine, for several months.  This was done in colored pencil.  I also did two others, one in watercolor and another in mixed media.  This one is my favorite!

Above you see a picture of Denise--the sweet girl, who's face was my inspiration for the mermaid.

With last night's tremendous sky show of lightning and thunder boomers which shook the house from 11 p.m.- 4:30 a.m., I felt restless and couldn't sleep--so I did a bit of doodling.

She's a tree dryad, you see...

And here is my lovely model Rena--she is such an inspiration to me!  Have a lovely day and Happy Paint Party Friday!

When I see your wonderful mermaid I think of the song " I love myself today" by Bif Naked!! What a wonderful model for your great doodle too... such fun here! Hope you get to have a nap today after the scary thunder!

Made with coloured pencil! I must get my pencils out, you have achieved such good colouring here, and I love the playful sea and your happy mermaid with the exotic hair-style.
Also love your "bit of doodling", others might call it a skillfully made drawing.
Happy PFF!

Beth, I love the beautiful mermaid. I have never seen one in that pose before and it's wonderful. Also, your tree woman sketch is great. I can't do diddly squat in the wee hours although I am awake most nights for a couple of hours , for some reason.

your mermaid is wonderful, the waves are gorgeous and full of energy and such a sweet fish!

love your tree sketch as well.

We had a fire must to close to us yesterday, due to dry lightning! Thank goodness there was no breeze. I guess it is contained. xo
